A Heartfelt Conversation with Student Nguyễn Tuyết

Three short days of learning — and a journey that opened the door to inner strength.

The ancients used to say: "A day of travel brings a basket of wisdom." For me, three days attending the "Igniting a New Vitality" course were not just three days of learning, but three days of opening up a new world within myself.

First, I would like to send my wishes for health and happiness to Teacher Nguyen Manh Quan, the brothers and sisters of Course 1, and all students of Course 1 of "Igniting a New Vitality." May our family always enjoy health, excellence, prosperity, and glory.

As one of the youngest students in the class, I arrived feeling quite uncertain. But the more I learned, the more I met the Teacher, and the more I spent time with the other students, the more I felt myself growing day by day. Each day of learning opened up within me a new way of seeing life, health, the body, emotions, and the miraculous ability within each human being.

Three days is a very short time in a person's life, but for me, those three days helped me recognize priceless values that I want to cherish, preserve, and develop for my entire life. In those three days, I felt like I met a "god" within myself — an inherent source of strength that I had not known how to awaken before.

A treasure trove of precious lessons from Teacher Nguyen Manh Quan

In the course, Teacher Nguyen Manh Quan transmitted to the class many precious lessons. They were not just knowledge to listen to, but methods to practice immediately in daily life: self-hypnosis, EFT, deep relaxation, visualization, positive speech, body exercises, emotion regulation, and ways to help oneself live healthier and happier each day.

I realized that a person's strength does not lie only in willpower. Everyone wants to be healthy, happy, successful, to love their family, and to help their loved ones. But wanting is not enough. People need techniques, methods, proper guidance, and consistent practice.

From a scientific perspective, relaxation techniques such as slow breathing, muscle relaxation, guided imagery, and self-hypnosis can help the body enter the relaxation response, typically accompanied by slower breathing, calmer heart rate, and reduced stress. NCCIH, part of the NIH, lists self-hypnosis, guided imagery, breathing exercises, and progressive muscle relaxation as relaxation techniques used in complementary health care. Self-hypnosis – bringing the body to a healthy, comfortable state

After the course, I began practicing self-hypnosis regularly. Each day, I spent about 20 minutes, twice a day, to bring myself into a state of relaxation and inner focus.

When I entered that state, I felt my mind reset. I used positive self-suggestions about a healthy, comfortable, light body. I visualized my life having new, joyful, peaceful, and wonderful things. Those images were not just in my thoughts; they gradually created a pleasant feeling in my body.

Before, I thought words were just words. After learning, I understood that words repeated with emotion, visualization, and a relaxed state can become a form of positive suggestion. When I speak to my body with love, my body begins to respond more gently.

Self-hypnosis is not losing control, not unconsciousness, nor anything mysterious. It is a way to direct attention inward, calm the nervous system, relax the body, and nurture positive signals for the mind. In modern practice, self-hypnosis is commonly used as a learned technique to help the practitioner actively create a relaxed state, increase focus, and support emotional self-regulation. Sharing the methods with loved ones

Not only did I practice for myself, but I also taught those around me: the staff at my shop, my parents, my grandmother, and other family members.

What made me happiest was that I was not only getting healthier myself but could also share these wonderful things with the people I love. Every time I saw a loved one become lighter, in less pain, sleeping better, or feeling happier, I felt even more grateful for the course.

Before, I often thought that helping others required something grand. But after the course, I understood that sometimes helping others starts with very small things: guiding them to breathe more slowly, saying a positive word to them, helping them name an emotion, practicing EFT together, or simply giving them the feeling of being listened to.

EFT – a truly wonderful emotion therapy method

Among the methods I learned, EFT was an experience that greatly impressed me. When I applied EFT, I found the results truly surprising.

First, with my own body. When I attended the course, I was in my first trimester of pregnancy. I often had back pain and thought it was normal for pregnant women. Every time after sitting to wash clothes or working at the computer for a long time, when I stood up, my back would ache as if each vertebra were falling apart.

I applied EFT exactly as I had learned. After the first round, my body already felt more comfortable, though there was still mild pain. When I did the second round, my body became much more comfortable. My back felt lighter, the pain decreased, and my whole body felt at ease. At that moment, I was truly moved and thought: "The god within me is awakening."

EFT is commonly introduced as a method combining focus on an emotional issue, using a setup phrase, and gently tapping on certain points on the body. A cautious understanding is that EFT may support some people in regulating emotions through a combination of factors: directed attention, naming the emotion, positive self-talk, rhythmic tapping, relaxation, and positive expectation. EFT should be viewed as a mind-body supportive method, not a replacement for medical diagnosis or treatment when there is a health issue requiring professional intervention.

EFT when dealing with cough and throat anxiety

The second time I applied EFT was when I frequently coughed in the evenings and at night. I was worried about my throat, so I went to see a doctor. The doctor examined me and said my throat was normal, only prescribing some lozenges and medication. But after using them, I still did not feel much improvement.

After the course, I tried applying EFT. Once again, I felt as if the "god" within me appeared. When I focused on the uncomfortable sensation, tapped EFT while relaxing and speaking positive words to my body, I felt calmer, less worried, and my body felt lighter.

The most important thing for me was no longer being afraid every time my body had a small symptom. Before, whenever I felt something unusual, I would worry. After learning, I learned to observe my body, practice to calm myself, and still see a doctor when needed. That way, I am both proactive in self-care and not negligent with my health.

Bringing the methods home to help loved ones

During my trip home on January 26, 27, and 28, 2013, I was able to be with my beloved family members. Every moment with my grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles was precious. I immediately used what I had learned and experienced to share with everyone.

I used EFT to support my mother-in-law when she had knee pain and wrist pain. After practicing, she felt more comfortable. I was very happy that the methods I learned were no longer just theory from the classroom but had become a gift I could bring home to my family.

I also did EFT therapy with my grandmother. She told me that at night she slept as if there were ants biting her, very uncomfortable. After practicing with her, the next morning she told me that night she had slept very comfortably and more soundly. For me, that was a great happiness.

Sleep plays an important role in physical and mental health. The CDC recommends that adults typically need at least 7 hours of sleep per night; sleep deficiency can affect health, alertness, emotions, and daytime performance. (CDC) [https://www.cdc.gov/sleep/about/index.html]

Helping my mother and neighbors with back pain

I continued applying EFT to my birth mother and two neighbors living next door who suffered from back pain due to manual labor. After one round, they already felt changes in their bodies. After the second round, the pain decreased significantly, with some people feeling it almost disappear.

For me, that was an unforgettable experience. Before, I never thought I could help so many people. After the course, I understood that when properly trained, ordinary people can also support their loved ones in simple situations, as long as they act with care, love, and do not replace medical care when necessary.

Back pain can have many causes such as muscle strain, posture, heavy labor, degeneration, injury, or spinal pathology. Relaxation and stress-regulation methods may support feelings of comfort in some people, but those with prolonged pain, worsening pain, numbness or weakness in the limbs, or unusual symptoms should still be examined by a doctor.

EFT with feelings of hatred, anger, and discomfort

One very interesting thing was that I also applied EFT to emotions. I helped my mother and two aunts deal with feelings of hatred toward my sister-in-law. After practicing, they shared that the hatred had decreased or disappeared. I realized that negative emotions sometimes are not just in words but reside deep in the body: in the chest, throat, stomach, breath, facial expression, and memory.

When emotions are named, acknowledged, and worked with in a safe state, they can ease. People do not need to force forgiveness intellectually right away. First, the body needs to relax, the emotions need to be recognized, and the mind needs a new way to see the situation.

I also applied the method when I myself was angry at someone. Sometimes I used eye movement techniques. Sometimes when I heard someone say something I did not want to hear, I silently told myself that I love that person very much. This calmed me down, reduced harsh reactions, and helped me maintain cheerfulness in communication.

Positive speech in daily life

After the course, I began to pay more attention to my words. I learned to use positive speech in daily life. I reminded myself to be more cheerful, gentler, and more loving. When I am happy, those around me also feel more comfortable.

Before, I had never really noticed that a negative sentence could weigh on my mind all day, while a positive sentence could make my body feel lighter. Now I understand that speech is a form of psychological energy. What I say to myself each day, I gradually become.

When a person frequently tells themselves "I am weak," "I cannot do it," "I am so miserable," the body tends to follow that state. When a person learns to say "I am getting healthier," "I am more at peace," "I know how to take better care of myself," the mind gains a more positive direction.

The power of visualization and inner state

In the process of self-hypnosis, visualization is a very important part. I visualized a healthy body, a happy life, new and wonderful things. Those images helped me feel brighter, lighter, and more motivated inside.

Guided imagery is a technique using mental images to support relaxation and emotional state regulation. When combined with breath, positive speech, and focus, visualization can help practitioners create feelings of safety, comfort, and greater agency over their bodies. (Wikipedia) [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guided_imagery]

For me, visualization is not just imagination. It is a way to plant within my mind a new image of myself: healthier, more peaceful, more loving, and more useful to my family.

Happiness in being able to help myself and loved ones

I felt truly wonderful that I could help myself and my loved ones. Before, I thought I was still young, inexperienced, and pregnant, so I could probably only receive care from others. But after the course, I saw that I could also give.

I could guide others to relax. I could share EFT. I could help loved ones reduce pain, sleep better, hate less, be less angry. I could use positive words to lighten the family atmosphere.

That was a great happiness: the happiness of knowing that strength is not somewhere far away. Strength lies within oneself; one only needs the method to awaken it and use it correctly.

Gratitude to Teacher Nguyen Manh Quan and the Center

I would like to thank Hypnosis Expert and Therapist Nguyen Manh Quan and the Center for introducing me to these priceless values.

Everyone has heard that strength lies within oneself, everyone understands it to some extent. But to turn understanding into results, to turn desire into method, to turn belief into practice, each person needs a teacher, an expert, and a proper guidance system.

Thank you, Teacher, for helping me meet the "god" within myself. Thank you for helping me understand that I can take care of my own body, regulate my own emotions, create my own positive state, and share good things with my loved ones.

I wish all the students to grasp these priceless values, maintain practice, and spread goodness to their families, communities, and lives.

Thank you for reading my sharing.
